Frequently Asked Questions

About Our School

Yes! Vibrant Minds is a tuition-free public charter school funded by the State of California and Federal Government. . All programs, including after-school care and enrichment opportunities, are provided at no cost to families.

While we are publicly funded like traditional public schools, we are independently run. This gives us more flexibility to design programs that fit our scholars’ needs without requiring approval from a large school district.

We currently serve Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 6th grade.

We keep our scholar to adult ratio small.

  • For Grade TK, classes range from 20-24 scholars with a 10:1 ratio of scholars:adults.
  • For Grades K-6, classes average 30 scholars with a 15:1 ratio of scholars:adults.

This does not take into account the additional adults supporting the classrooms (ABAs, 1:1 instructional assistants, Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSA), counselor, school psychologist, and leadership team). We also have a strong relationship with local universities, resulting in fieldwork students, student teachers, and Resident Teachers  working directly with the credentialed classroom teacher.

Academics & Learning

We focus on core academics like English Language Arts (i.e., speaking, reading, and writing), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, using research-based instruction. We also offer Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), STEAM, physical fitness, and project-based learning that help scholars build real-world skills.

Advanced learners can access additional challenges, including enrichment, tutoring, and even partnerships with local junior colleges. Our approach ensures all scholars are supported at their own pace.

Enrollment & Admissions

Start by filling out our Interest Form. From there, your child will be entered into our public enrollment drawing. If selected, you’ll receive next steps to complete registration.

Scholar Support Services

We provide small-group instruction, one-on-one support, early intervention, and allow ABA therapists on campus. Our staff includes specialists in reading, special education, and behavior support.

We use a strength-based, whole-child approach to support students who may need extra help. If a child qualifies for special education, we work closely with families to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that outlines their strengths, needs, and goals. The IEP guides the personalized supports and services a child receives while remaining in their main classroom for their grade level, not a separate special education class.

If your child qualifies for Special Education services, supports are selected based on their specific needs. Services may include academic support, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, or other related services.

If a parent or teacher has concerns about a scholar’s learning, communication, or development, we may recommend an assessment process. This includes professional evaluations, teacher and parent input, and a team review to determine eligibility.

Yes. Inclusion is a priority at Vibrant Minds. Most services are delivered within the general education classroom, so your child stays part of the school community while getting the support they need to succeed.

Day-to-Day Logistics

Please keep early pick-ups to a minimum to avoid disruption to your child’s learning. If you do need to do an early pickup, notify the front office in advance. Early pickups are allowed for appointments or family needs.

You can pick up your child early from the after-school program at any time. Just sign them out at the designated pickup area.

While the after-school program is optional, it is important to attend consistently to fully benefit from the offerings. If there is a need to be absent from the program, let the front office know.

Scholars are expected to wear school-approved uniforms. Details on specific uniform requirements are available from the front office or in the Home/School Handbook.

Family Involvement

Very! Parents are encouraged to participate in school leadership through our School Site Council (SCC), Family and Staff Team (F.A.S.T.), and Board of Directors. We welcome input and strive to build strong partnerships with families.

We love parent volunteers! Reach out to the front office or your child’s teacher to learn about current opportunities. Volunteers may need to complete a background check or training depending on the activity.
