Ms. Karen Ogbugbulu
Karen Ogbugbulu, is an Assistant Director at Vibrant Minds Charter School. She brings twenty years of experience in education as a teacher, instructional leader, and school administrator across charter and independent schools. Karen began her career as a classroom teacher, spending over a decade helping launch and grow schools within charter networks across the country. She later transitioned into school leadership, where she has focused on strengthening instructional systems, developing educators, and building school cultures that support both academic achievement and student well-being. Throughout her career, Karen has been deeply committed to advancing equitable learning environments and supporting the whole child. Her work has included developing teacher practices that close opportunity gaps, implementing trauma-informed approaches to student support, and helping schools integrate social-emotional learning into their instructional models. She is also the creator of “SEL Kids with Ms. O,” a digital learning platform that provides animated social-emotional learning resources for students, families, and educators. Karen holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration from UCLA’s Principal Leadership Institute and earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas Southern University. Originally raised in Texas, Karen is a first-generation Nigerian-American who believes deeply in the power of community, culture, and opportunity through education.
Outside of her work in education, Karen is a visual artist, photographer, and former fashion stylist, who enjoys time with her family, friends, exploring art museums, fashion, surfing, and creative expression. She brings this creative spirit into her leadership, building school cultures where students feel known, supported, and inspired to reach their full academic and personal potential.
