Families are an important part of Vibrant Minds Charter School. We believe the best learning environments are created when scholars, parents, educators, and the community work together.
Volunteers support our school in many ways, from helping at events to serving in leadership roles. Every contribution of time, talent, or service helps strengthen our school community and creates meaningful experiences for our scholars.
Ways to Volunteer
School Events & Field Trips
Help with event setup or cleanup, support school activities, or serve as a field trip chaperone. These opportunities are flexible and a great way to be involved when your schedule allows.
School Site Council (SSC)
Serve in a leadership role that represents family voices in school planning and decision-making. SSC members participate in meetings, surveys, and discussions that help guide the school.
Family and Staff Team (F.A.S.T.)
Support school culture and community-building by collaborating with families and staff. FAST helps organize events, promote family engagement, and strengthen connections across our school community.
Volunteer and Chaperone Guidelines
To support scholar safety and comply with California Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506), Vibrant Minds Charter School has updated our Volunteer and Chaperone Guidelines.
Key Highlights:
- All parents/guardians on campus or chaperoning must check-in through the Raptor system and wear a badge.
- There are two chaperone tiers:
- Tier 1: Occasional, supervised roles (e.g., day field trips, classroom or event support)
- Tier 2: Extended or unsupervised roles (e.g., overnight field trips, regular volunteering)
- Tier 1: Occasional, supervised roles (e.g., day field trips, classroom or event support)
- Tier 2 volunteers are required to complete:
- Live Scan fingerprinting
- TB clearance
- Mandated Reporter Training
- Live Scan fingerprinting
- Overnight field trips are limited to Tier 2 approved chaperones only.
- Chaperoning is a commitment to support all scholars and staff rather than focusing on your own scholar.
- Parents may not remain on campus during breakfast, lunch, or other times, as well as during field trips, without the proper clearance and approval
These guidelines help us maintain a supportive, safe, and legally compliant learning environment for all scholars.
If you have questions about clearance or volunteering, contact the school office.
