School Site Council (SSC)

What Is the School Site Council?

The School Site Council (SSC) is a decision-making group that brings together parents, staff, and school leadership to help guide important academic, budget, and school improvement decisions at Vibrant Minds Charter School.

The SSC works closely with the Founding/Executive Director to review school programs, oversee the use of state and federal funds, and ensure decisions reflect the needs of our scholars and families.

What Does the SSC Do?

The School Site Council plays a key role in shaping how our school plans, programs, and resources support student success.

The SSC:

  • Reviews and helps guide academic programs and instructional priorities
  • Provides oversight of school improvement plans and budgets
  • Advises on parent engagement, school safety, and discipline plans
  • Represents family and staff perspectives at monthly VMCS Board Meetings

A major responsibility of the SSC is providing oversight of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

Working with school leadership, SSC members:

  • Review and analyze student data
  • Evaluate academic programs and activities
  • Consult with advisory groups
  • Monitor implementation and revisions of the LCAP
  • Help guide how state and federal funds are allocated to meet scholar needs

This process helps ensure resources are used thoughtfully and equitably across the school.
